a) Monthly Workshops with Taylor & Francis Group

When: Last Wednesday of each month
Duration: 3-4 hours
Format: Online interactive sessions

Following our successful MoU with Taylor & Francis Group, these workshops provide training on the following modules:

Module 1: Research Fundamentals

  • Developing research questions
  • Literature review strategies
  • Research design and methodology

Module 2: Academic Writing

  • Structuring scholarly articles
  • Writing for impact
  • Clarity and conciseness in academic prose

Module 3: Publication Process

  • Selecting the right journal
  • Preparing manuscripts for submission
  • Understanding the peer review process

Module 4: Responding to Reviewers

  • Interpreting reviewer comments
  • Revising manuscripts effectively
  • Navigating rejection and resubmission

Module 5: Building Your Research Portfolio

  • Developing a publication strategy
  • Research communication beyond journals
  • Building academic visibility

Expected Outcome:

Your participation culminates in publication opportunities in dedicated book volumes or special issues on critical African topics.

b) AI for Climate Resilience Training

Target audience: Fellows interested in mathematical sciences, data science, or AI applications
Format: Blended learning (online modules + in-person workshops)
Duration: 6 months

Developed and piloted at the University of Nairobi and Makerere University, this program strengthens your capacity to apply mathematical sciences to climate challenges.

Selected Fellows will learn:

Mathematical AI tools and frameworks
Climate modelling and forecasting
Data analysis for climate resilience
Machine learning applications
Translating AI insights into policy tools

Program Components:

Self-paced e-learning modules
Hands-on project assignments
Mentorship from AI specialists
Internship opportunities with partner institutions
Policy lab sessions for research translation

c) Summer School on Just Energy Transition

When: August 2026 (exact dates TBA)
Where: (Location TBA) - Building on our 2025 success in Kampala, Uganda
Duration: 5 days intensive

Partners:

Makerere University Business School, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, SouthSouthNorth

This intensive program equips you with practical tools and strategies to operationalise just energy transitions in Africa.
